Our Ranch ...

When we started our ranch back in 2004, we kept a herd of about 30 registered Shetland Sheep and about 20 Alpacas. We enjoyed many years of raising lambs, showing our sheep at State Fairs and Wool shows and introducing the West to these wonderful little sheep. As the years passed and the hand spun Alpaca yarn business took off it became time to get out of the sheep business, concentrate on the yarn business, and make running the ranch more manageable for two aging people. We now keep a herd of 8 to 10 Alpacas: enough to provide Peg with all the wonderful Alpaca colors she needs for her yarns.

In addition to Peg’s designer hand spun yarns that sometimes include beads and metallics, she also knits and weaves hats, scarves, socks, fingerless gloves, mittens and shawls out of her yarn which we sell at craft and art shows around the state in the summer – see additional section for information of the dates and locations for this summer. Interested parties are also welcome to visit the ranch and shop items currently for sale at the source. We don’t sell online at this time as most of the items are one of a kind and our inventory is always changing.

Because of our beautiful setting we share the land with bears, mountain lions and coyotes.  This requires livestock guard dogs to protect the animals, especially when there are babies.  The picture at the top is of our first beloved livestock guard dog, Shane. He was an Anatolian and lived to be 13. He was followed by an Akbash and another Anatolian.  These wonderful heroic working dogs live with the animals they guard.  They are not pets, but they are members of the family and take their duties very seriously.
